Thanks to Pivot Point International, five lucky hairstylists or barbers have the chance to elevate their careers with the BEAUTY CHANGES LIVES | LEO PASSAGE EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP. This unique runway/editorial scholarship gives winners the opportunity to showcase their creative talent in front of the who’s who of the beauty industry. Last year there were four winners including Holly Moretti, and we recently had the pleasure of interviewing her about her experience.

BCL: Hi Holly! Thank you for taking a moment to tell us about your time at the 5th Annual Beauty Changes Lives Experience.

HM: Thank you for giving me this opportunity! The scholarship was such a great experience that I wish I could do it all over again! Thanks for everything!

BCL: We are glad you had such an incredible experience. We were blown away by everyone’s work. Please tell us about your time with Pivot Point and about your creative process.

HM: It was such a dream working along side the top industry leaders from Pivot Point. They really took us step by step through how professionals work in the fashion industry. We created a mood board and came up with a collage of pictures that inspired us as hairdressers and recreated that look with hair with our own artsy touch. Pivot Point directed us with the right approach to the designs of hair that we had mapped out and created. It was such an honor having both Jason and Yolly as mentors recreating that look from paper, to mannequins, to the beautiful models that we had personally chosen with our team. The best part was seeing our hard work come to life on the runway. That week was one of the best weeks of my life!

BCL: How did receiving the Beauty Changes Lives scholarship change your life and career?

HM: The Beauty Changes Lives scholarship set me up for success. It had helped me get a job before graduating school and most importantly, it helped me grow and evolve as a hairdresser. I definitely see myself working in more of an editorial scene since this scholarship. I have always loved seeing runway and it has pushed me harder to get to that spot as a hairdresser.

BCL: What are you up to now?

HM: Right now I am currently working as an assistant and hairdresser at Leidan Mitchell Salon and Spa in Phoenix & Chandler, Arizona. I am in the middle of building my clientele to eventually rent my own booth here at Leidan Mitchell. Recently I helped style the Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders hair for their photoshoot which was hosted at our salon. We are currently preparing for Phoenix Fashion Week where we will be working on the TOP 40 models hair that will be walking down the runway! I am constantly busy and my life is HAIR and I LOVE IT!

BCL: How has beauty changed your life?

HM: Beauty has changed my life in many ways.  Personally, it has opened me up as an artist, but most importantly it has made me passionate toward my clients.
