Valnedra Rosser

Valnedra Rosser, L’esrit Academy, Livonia, Mich.

With two children, a nice home and a good job, many would say that Valnedra was living the American Dream, she noted in her essay. But Valnedra wasn’t fulfilled. “Truthfully, something was missing and I learned that living a happy life is following your passion and working that passion until it becomes your destiny,” she wrote in her application essay.

Just like that, reality struck, I was 37, with two kids, nice home, car, with a good job.  Some would say, that I was living the “American Dream”, right?  Wrong!  Truthfully, I was not happy–something within me was missing. I quickly learned that living a happy life is following your passion and working that passion until it becomes your destiny.

I am a firm believer that every experience in life, has meaning and all of my experiences (some good and bad), fears, doubts and internal struggles surrounding what success truly was, was purposeful.  My life thus far has shaped and prepared me to have the commitment, creativity, leadership skills and professionalism to obtain a manicurist license to ultimately open a nail salon with very creative niche that will change the nail industry standard and hopefully inspire and empower others to follow their passion and live out their dreams.
